Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 24, 2026
At TranscribeYouTube, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and services.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require user registration or login, and you never have to give us anything to use the tool. We do not ask for your name or phone number, and we do not buy, sell, or share personal data.
There is one exception, and we would rather name it than let the sentence above imply otherwise: the API interest form on our API page asks for an email address. That is voluntary, it is the only place we ask for one, and it is used to reply to you and to tell you if the API changes — not for marketing.
Information We Process
- YouTube URLs: When you enter a YouTube video URL, we process it solely to fetch publicly available caption data. We do not store these URLs permanently.
- Transcript data: We fetch captions directly from YouTube's public API and display them to you. We do not store transcript content on our servers.
- Usage analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This includes anonymous data like pages visited, time spent, and referral sources. No personally identifiable information is collected.
- Feedback you choose to send: if you rate the tool, we store the rating, any reasons you tick, your optional comment, the error code you hit (if any), the caption language you asked for, and the page path — never the video URL or video ID. We do not ask who you are, and the rating form has no name or email field.
Feedback, and when we would quote it
By default your comment is internal. We read it and act on it, and that is all.
If you want it shown on the site, there is a checkbox that says so. It is off unless you tick it. Tick it and we may show the comment publicly without your name, since we do not have your name. Leave it alone and the comment is never published, and nothing about the tool behaves differently either way.
Comments sent before that checkbox existed are treated as internal permanently. We cannot obtain consent after the fact on someone else's behalf, so we do not pretend to.
We may publish anonymous totals — how many people have rated the tool and the average score — because a total identifies nobody. We will not invent one: if the number is too small to mean anything, we show nothing rather than dress it up.
Please do not put anything private in the comment box. It is a free-text field and we cannot filter what arrives; if you would rather talk to us directly, contact us.
